Job Description:
I BASIC JOB FUNCTIONS
The Lead System Engineer is responsible for the enterprise management tools that are used for the day to day operation of the Network Operation & Security Center (NOSC's). The lead system engineer primary function will be to provide assistance to Principal System Engineer, to ensure all the enterprise tools are interoperable, as well as function as specified, to ensure the NOSC operators can perform their operational duties. The lead system engineer is also responsible for assisting in building custom scripts and dashboards to evaluate the data that the tools will compile. Responsible for documenting how all the enterprise management tools are configured and operating with each other.
II ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (JOB FUNCTIONS INTRINSIC TO THE

* Build, test, implement, maintain and manage monitoring systems
- for an enterprise, high traffic network
* Develop enterprise tools to monitor network and systems
- performance
* Responsible to ensure all enterprise management tools are
- interoperable with each other and that the tools are performing as specified.
* Perform all enterprise management tools upgrade to ensure
- tools are operational and available to NOSC engineers.
* Assess current management tools and recommend best practice
- solutions for large-scale enterprise networks
* Design conceptual, logical and physical network management
- architecture including interfaces for integration with existing/legacy systems
* Write documentation and create flowcharts and diagrams on
- software applications and provide technical support and training to internal constituents
* Ensure all documentation conforms to company established
- standards.
* Present status and other relevant information in appropriate
- format for management, creating custom tool views/dashboards for all levels of the organization and/or customers.
* Create custom scripts to allow NOSC engineering to convert
- manual task into automated task.
* Co-develop operations support tools with other team members
- which integrate into enterprise management architecture
* Participate in the generation and implementation of processes,
- standards and best practices for the enterprise management team
* Ability to function in a rapid paced dynamic environment * Ability to work independently as well as a team player and
- posses excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Customize tools to ensure data complied will aid in meeting
- SLA targets and initiate immediate actions to resolve service shortfalls
* Install/update software and operating system patches as
- necessary
* Compile and present network management related reports
III KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
* 3-5 years experience with Enterprise Management Tools
(Concord, HP Openview, CiscoWorks, MicroMuse Omibus)
* Knowledge of voice and data networks, equipment, configurations * Understanding of different platforms Windows and Linux * Knowledge of scripting and custom interface design * Knowledge of server architectures * NCCA certification - nice to have * BS or BA degree in Management Information Systems, Computer
- Science, Computer Information Systems, or other computer related specialization or equivalent experience
